You don’t have to work harder to lead

If you’re anything like most mums I know, you work hard. It’s part of the job, right?
You’re probably the primary caregiver, which depending on the age of your kids might mean lunch boxes and shoes on before school, and homework after school. Or maybe it’s driving lessons so you can finally stop being the family taxi, followed by those late-night moments lying awake, hoping they’ve got home safe.
And that’s all before we even talk about your day job — where you also work hard. You’re showing up, proving yourself, doing your best every day. Maybe you’re also the one organising morning teas or remembering everyone’s birthdays.
It’s no wonder so many mums decide that leadership isn’t for them. Who’s got the time or energy to step things up even further?
But here’s the truth: you don’t have to work ten-hour days to step into leadership. You don’t have to take on more to make a bigger impact.
Leadership isn’t about doing more. It’s about seeing things differently.
And there is no better person than you — with your empathy, resilience, and lived experience — to step into a role where you can make a real difference.
